New Balance Exercise Bike Review

New Balance is probably a brand better known for it's running shoes than their ellipticals (kind of like Reebok).

New Balance partnered with Fitness Quest in 2003 to start making fitness equipment like exercise bikes, treadmills and elliptical trainers.

New Balance Recumbent Bike
Although Fitness Quest doesn't have the best reputation in the fitness equipment business (they also produce the Total Gym, Ab Lounge and Tony Little products), their exercise bikes might still be worth a look.

New Balance produces several economy to mid-priced upright and recumbent bikes ranging from $399 to $799.  So really, the competition is pretty fierce as they're going up against heavies like Schwinn and Keys.

How do they stack up? Here's a brief overview of what New Balance exercise bikes offer:

Most models offer magnetic resistance which offers a quiet, smooth workout.  The ergonically designed ConForm seats are extra wide with soft foam padding. This again helps to make your workout more comfortable.

Most New Balance bikes offer wheels on the bottom for easy moving around and  oversized pedals with foot straps.  The handlebars contour to your fingers on most models as well.

New Balance recumbent bikes do offer fairly decent warranties: in general the frame is covered for around 10 years, electronics for 2 and labor for 1 year.

Although there aren't a lot of high expert reviews or even user reviews on New Balance, we did find one user review giving the New Balance 6100 Recumbent 4 out of 5 stars.

Bottom Line:

New Balance bikes do offer some impressive features despite being the new kid on the block. And for all intents and purposes, they do look like a pretty great value.

However you might want to compare them to the more proven and tested Schwinn bikes before you make the final decision.

Where To Buy At A Discount:

You can save money on a New Balance bike by buying direct online from the Home Fitness Club.  You can save money on store markup and sales tax.

Plus they offer a 'Bill Me Later' option, free shipping and a money-back guarantee.
